In 2017, the city of Pasadena became the latest in California to ban all sex trafficking in its transit system.
This was despite the fact that it has been a hotbed for sex trafficking since 2014, according to the Center for Investigative Reporting.
It is one of a growing number of cities across the country that have taken similar measures, and in some cases, passed laws.
However, Wayfair has also faced criticism from other city officials for not doing enough to protect victims.
According to The New York Times, the transit company is responsible for a huge amount of human trafficking in Pasadena.
A recent report by a human trafficking expert concluded that Wayfair and other companies like it are “responsible for a large portion of the sex trafficking and trafficking-related offenses in the city.”
“It’s not just that they’re in the business, it’s that they don’t care,” said Kate Fenn, a spokesperson for the Center on Child Protection at the University of California, Berkeley, who studies human trafficking.
“They’re going to take a risk for a profit and they do it with impunity.”
Wayfair, which operates in several cities, has a long history of making headlines for its treatment of sex workers.
In 2009, the company announced that it was pulling advertisements featuring the word “slut” and “porn star” from its website.
That same year, Waypoint had to shut down its online ads after a woman said she was assaulted by a manager.
In 2013, Wayfare was fined $25,000 for selling a sex-themed shirt.
It was also sued for not complying with California’s Human Trafficking Victims Act, which requires transit agencies to report sex trafficking.
In February, Waypoints board of directors voted to close Wayfair’s human trafficking hotline.
“We need to be the ones that have to put pressure on the companies to do something to help victims,” Fenn said.
Wayfair said it would no longer advertise on its website and would work with authorities to stop trafficking.
The company has a strong track record of reporting sex trafficking cases to the police, according Toomay, and has even offered free counseling to survivors of trafficking.
But the company did not respond to questions about whether it has ever paid for a human rights expert to study the company.
The city of Los Angeles, which recently passed a law that made it a criminal offense to advertise sex trafficking, has also seen a spike in sex trafficking related cases.
In 2016, the LAPD was involved in an investigation into Wayfair for allegedly using its marketing platform to market sex for profit.
Waypoint was also charged with promoting prostitution.
A spokesperson for Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said that the mayor has been working to help the company fight trafficking, and said that Waypoint’s recent actions have not only impacted the company but also the local economy.
“The City of Los Angelenos has always stood up for victims of sex trafficking through law enforcement and social service agencies, including the LAPD,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
“Wayfair and our law enforcement partners have worked tirelessly to help ensure that this doesn’t happen again.
Our efforts have led to arrests, prosecutions and convictions, and we have a long-standing relationship with law enforcement.
We are pleased that our City and its police department have worked diligently to end this horrific crime, and that our city has a dedicated law enforcement agency dedicated to fighting this problem.”
